The purpose of the Oklahoma Dental Association (ODA) Mediation Review system is to review matters concerning misunderstandings, inadequate communications, and serviceability between patients and their dentists. Mediation Review is offered without cost to help with such problems if the dentist is a member of the Oklahoma Dental Association. The object of Mediation Review is not focused on which of the two parties is correct, but instead what will be required to resolve the disagreement. Mediation Review is not a court of law and has no disciplinary function. The procedure is neither adversarial nor punitive. It exists to educate, explore options, clarify and recommend a fair solution. The Sub-council on Mediation Review and local committees consist of ODA member dentists who volunteer their time to review and assist patients in their disputes concerning quality of care and appropriateness of treatment.
