Course Description

CBD? THC? ENDS? What does this all mean? With medical marijuana now legal, and becoming more acceptable, in many states and vaping becoming more popular every day, a whole new set of issues for health care providers is evolving. The oral and systemic effects of these drugs need to be understood. We are ideal first responders and poised to help our patients realize the potential health ramifications of abusing/misusing these two drugs, as well the true medicinal aspects of marijuana. 

Course Objectives
You will learn to:

  1. Understand the oral and systemic effects of electronic nicotine-delivery systems (ENDS) and marijuana
  2. Distinguish myth vs reality of the medicinal aspect of marijuana and “safety” of ENDS (e-cigs/ vaping)
  3. Identify the current trends in vaping and marijuana use

Course Description

Peri-implant complications, just like periodontal complications, may appear similar during visual examination. How do you decide which technologies (Plastic? Titanium? Ultrasonic? Laser?) are the best choices for treating your implant clients? It is critical to know how to differentiate and determine the underlying cause of the complication to properly treat the disease. Knowing the “why” of the problem is paramount for treatment success and patient engagement.

Course Objectives

A comprehensive understanding of signs, symptoms, and etiology of peri-implant complications, along with the most current, evidence-based maintenance and regenerative protocols, will be discussed. You will learn to:         

  1. Recognize signs and symptoms of peri-implant mucositis, implantitis, and cementitis
  2. Develop assessment & treatment protocols for peri-implant disease
  3. Understand instrumentation/maintenance procedures for optimal patient care
  4. Differentiate between technologies to help create a customized home care protocol to improve patient engagement
