Speaker Bio

Dr. Dunn Cumby attended the University of Oklahoma for his undergraduate degree and
continued on to earn his MPH and DDS, also from the University of Oklahoma. He was
the first black man to graduate from OU’s College of Dentistry in 1976 – the same year
he founded his private dental practice and became a faculty member at the school. Dr.
Cumby worked as the division head in community dentistry at the University of Oklahoma
College of Dentistry for more than 43 years and oversaw the Community Dental Health
Coordinator Pilot Training Program. Dr. Cumby sold his practice and retired from full time
work in 2019, but he continues to teach Introduction to Ethics at the College of Dentistry
today. In addition to his dental career, Dr. Cumby is an ordained deacon for the Catholic
Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, a 4th Degree Black Belt, and a World Taekwondo referee.
