Course Description
This lunch-and-learn course is designed to be a review of best practices in opioid prescribing, the laws associated with opioids, the PMP system, Oklahoma dental prescribing practices, options for opioid prescribing, the opioid epidemic, and strategies to mitigate it. The course will be a combination of brief lecture bursts on specific issues followed by open discussions on topics of interest to the participants.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Braly is an alumnus (dental school and residency) and faculty member of OUCOD. A board-certified Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon, he practiced for 35 years in Enid and Norman before returning to OUCOD to teach. He serves as the Director of Pre-Doc Studies in OMS. He has lectured internationally on OMS, cosmetic surgery, and patient safety. Currently, he is a member of the Oklahoma Commission on Opioids. He provided testimony to the Oklahoma Attorney General in preparation for the State’s successful class-action lawsuit against pharmaceutical manufacturers. He recently has been a contributor to an online CE program on Opioids designed specifically for Oklahoma dentists called “Do No Harm.” Soon to be released, it is a project of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and OUCOD.
